There is much to do and see in the region and half
or full day sightseeing excursions can be combined with your dives'
programme. The choice is yours.
The following
are just a sample of what is possible :
On the North Coast there is the World Heritage site of the Giant's
Causeway, one of nature's geological masterpieces. Nearby you can
visit the oldest whiskey distillery in the world, at Bushmills.
A few miles away, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge is set in magnificent
scenery, and the entire coastline in this area is in public ownership,
through the National Trust. And a short sea crossing to Rathlin
Island takes you back a century in time.
In County Down, from the vantage point of Scrabo Tower, perched
on top of an extinct volcano, you can see Scotland, the hills of
Cumbria and the Isle of Man. On the shores of Strangford Lough the
meticulously preserved historic houses of Mount Stewart, with its
exotic gardens, and Castleward give a glimpse into gracious living
of a bygone age, whilst a tour of the picturesque fishing villages
of the East Down coast show you where all that wonderful seafood
comes from.
To the south
of County Down lies the town of Downpatrick, famous for its associations
with Ireland's Patron Saint. Further to the South rise the celebrated
Mountains of Mourne, from where you can visit Tullymore Forest Park
and the majestic Carlingford Lough.
To the West and North West , the Sperrin Mountains, the Lakes of
Fermanagh and the hills and coastline of Donegal are wonderful "getting-away-from-it-all"
destinations. A trip to Tory Island is a "must" for those who
want to experience the extreme of Europe.
Only with ADVENTURE DIVING can you "pick 'n mix" between dive
sites and tourist destinations.
