Shopping can be an important part of any holiday,
including a diving holiday.
That is why we at ADVENTURE DIVING IRELAND cater for those who wish
to spend a few hours, or even a day, looking at what the local shops
have to offer. The choice of what to buy is endless, but local specialities
range from linen goods, to tweeds, crystal ware and unique varieties
of whiskey, as well as Irish antiques.
The main-but
by no means only-shopping areas are to be found in Dublin, Londonderry
and Belfast, all of which have much to offer from a touristic point
of view. For example,in Dublin, as well as the shops of Grafton
and O'Connell Streets, you can easily take in the beautiful Trinity
College, where the cultural treasure of the Book of Kells is on
display, and historic Dublin Castle. A shopping expedition to Belfast
can include a visit to nearby Carrickfergus Castle, which dates
from the 12th century, or to the village of Hillsborough, site of
a Royal Residence and also of many fine antique shops. In Londonderry,
too, browsing in the city centre for a bargain can be combined with
a walk on the ancient mediaeval walls.
Typically, such shopping trips can be fitted in during times when
diving has to be suspended, for safety reasons, before air travel.
ADVENTURE DIVING IRELAND help you make the best use of your time.
